Location: St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont St, Ponsonby, Auckland Brief description: A unique opportunity for financial Equity members take part in a three hour workshop with UK Voice and Performance Coach Jane Oakshott, BA MA LAMDA (Gold), MBE A Way with Words For Performance, Presentations -- or Parties...
We all know in our heads how our words should sound. But they don’t always come out that way. Clarity can become rant, sincerity can turn into mumble, emotional heights can descend into artifice. This practical, interactive workshop explores ways in which we can thoroughly engage our audience and deliver emotional truth through closely acknowledging, respecting and loving the words as the centre of our performance.
Bio of host: Known internationally for her work with the English Mystery Plays, and in Otago for starting the University's iconic Lunchtime Theatre series, Jane Oakshott now directs the Leeds-based theatre company Trio Literati. Since 1999 she has run Personal Communication Skills Workshops at the Staff Development Unit of Leeds University, and set up Leeds Voice Day Events in 2007. In 2008 she was appointed MBE for her services to drama.
