You will learn new skills in approaching the script and interpreting the casting director’s notes and briefs.
You will learn how to direct yourself and make powerful choices.
You will acquire tools and new rehearsal methods based on fundamental elements of the M. Chekhov acting technique.
M. Chekhov acting technique is designed to nourish and empower unique talent that lies within each person. During this workshop actors get introduced to some of the fundamental elements of M. Chekhov technique.
Eight Week Acting Course

Course based on the M. Chekhov Acting Technique as the most influential and inspiring method of actor training in existence.
During 1 term actors get introduced to fundamental elements of M.Chekhov technique.

Script work and Character Creation

During each week actors have an opportunity to come once per week or twice per week.
Each class has 3 component:
warm up, an introduction to a new element of the technique and practical application.
Time: Every Tuesdays and Thursdays for 8 weeks from 6.30pm - 9.30pm

Finishes: Thursday 20th March

About term and M. Chekhov acting technique:
Since our profession is all to do with feelings – objective, lines, emotions, intentions, partners/audience through a series of body/voice releasing exercises, actors will learn to open themselves, expand the realm of feelings and awareness, deepen understanding of the script from within, acquire improvisational state of being and multi dimensional approach to acting.
During this term actors get introduced to fundamental elements of M. Chekhov technique and Characters Creation process: Atmosphere, Psychological Gesture, Qualities, Body Centers, Radiation.
This training will provide actors with very powerful and essential tools that will allow them to put rewarding principles of this technique into use to achieve INSPIRED ACTING.
Through the term actors will be working with monologues and scenes.
About Elena Stejko:
Elena Stejko has worked in the industry for more than 25 years and has 20 years of international teaching experience.
Elena recently nominated for “Best Actress’ at the NZ Film and Television Awards 2010.
Elena received the award for "Best Actor" in Theatre at the 2012 Chapman Tripp Awards for her role in “A Short Cut To Happiness” at Circa Theatre Wellington 2012.
Elena received “Best Actress” in Theatre in Dunedin for a Production of Roger Hall’s play “Short Cut To Happiness” Fortune Theatre 2011.
Elena has worked extensively as a casting director for NZ film and television for 10 years
As an actor Elena worked on stage and screen in Russia, Brazil, New Zealand and Japan.
Her most recent screen work includes the female lead in the NZ feature film “Russian Snark” and the female lead in the Japanese TV drama “The Promise” (filmed in Tokyo).
Elena’s television work includes “Shortland Street,” “Mercy Peak” and “Spin Doctors.”
Elena's most recent stage work includes her roles in "Where Are You My Only One", ATC's "Midnight in Moscow" ATC "Romeo & Juliet", "Boeing Boeing" Fortune Theatre Dunedin 2013.
Elena teaching classes and workshop at Actors Studio and regularly invited to teach at Toi Whakaari Drama School in Wellington, Unitec Performing art in Auckland and South Seas Film and Television School in Auckland.
Elena has directed numbers of stage productions with various theatre companies and performing schools graduates.

ACTING FOR SCREEN
In these weekend workshops I'm going to cover all the territory around camera technique, auditions and self-testing. There will be a lot of screen time and playback. I'll cover productive prep you can do for screen, and show how the approach for on -et work and auditions must differ. Participants will meet and rehearse on one scene prior to their workshop using a technique sheet provided by Peter as a guide.
AUCKLAND/ STARTING 10 FEBRUARY - $300
HONING TECHNIQUE - TOUCHING EXCELLENCE
FIVE EVENING SESSIONS
As actors we have to work fast, and on our own, to get our heads around the demands of the film/tv set, audition or rehearsal room. But in this five week five session evening workshop each participant will work on one or two long scenes only, in depth, to a high standard. Participants will be expected to rehearse and prepare between sessions. This is about working out what works for you and what turns your acting on. You'll reveal your potential and learn practical tools for preparation.

Hi everyone, welcome to 2014. We hope you had a good break and are eager to get some more auditions and roles this year.
Because of the extreme competition in our screen industry and the difficult task of getting auditions in a very competitive environment, we would ask you this year to choose to up your game by providing your Agents with new headshots, updated CVs and keep your acting (and other) skills fresh as well as your appearance. By doing this you will be in a far better position to be considered for jobs and for us to put you forward for them.
Also, another very serious request - and one that is constantly being asked but not everyone adhers to - will you please let us know when you are going away. It takes a moment to text or email us dates when you won't be able to audition and means a lot to us so we don't miss out on opportunities, nor do other actors. Don't forget that unless you get work, your Agent works for you for nothing and we rely on commission, if we keep losing out on audition slots because we put actors forward who aren't around then not only do we (and YOU) look unprofessional to Casting Directors but it means loss of income for all concerned and other actors miss out on auditions too.
We choose to submit those first who keep us uppermost in their minds. The same is true of the Casting Directors when selecting those to audition. That's the reality of it.
It's a new year with new choices - we'd love you to choose to keep us in the loop and yourself at the top of your chosen profession!
