We would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newest actors: Anne Jordan, Darya Kharitonova, Ezra Carroll-Dickey, Tyler Kairau-Barclay. Loving working with you all!
We are very sad to say that one of our favourite young people - Teina Terei, lost his battle with leukaemia earlier this week. Our memories of him are strong, as he was when fighting his illness. He made us laugh and everything he did, he did with joy, good humour, talent and professionalism. He's going to be missed by us all. Our deepest sympathy to Teina's family, friends and loved ones. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.

Don't say anything.
A chance encounter between two ex-rivals.
An actress searches for someone to confide in.
An old friend pleads for support.
A critic demands to be heard.
In 1888, playwright August Strindberg wrote The Stronger as part of an Experimental Theatre Project. The 20-minute “playette” was a two hander for two characters called Madame X and Mademoiselle Y where one speaks and one doesn't.
In 2015, playwright Nathan Joe continues this exploration of speaking and listening with three more one-sided conversations, alongside a modern update of Strindberg's original, written specifically for The Basement bar. Witness as friends, strangers and colleagues unravel as they confront each other.

Those of you who have been around as long as we have cannot fail but know the name Terri de'Ath. Terri has been a Casting Director on a great many films and projects that a lot of you have been involved in, she has also taught many of you in her great classes and workshops. Sad to say that Terri is hanging up her casting hat after all these years which is, in our view, the end of an era. We are grateful to her for all the hard work and passion she's put into helping many actors throughout their careers, for the encouragement and support she's given them and us. It has been a delight working with her.
On a positive note she hopes to continue teaching so watch this space for details of her classes.
From all of us at EMS - thank you, Terri
Actors wanted for stage production of The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams.
songs by Christine White
“When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become Real.”
The enchanting story of a toy rabbit that dearly wishes to become real. First joyously discovered by a young boy at the top of his Christmas stocking, the velveteen rabbit is soon forgotten amongst all the other toys. He waits on the bedroom floor in the hope to become loved by the boy once more.
Then, one night the boy’s favourite cuddly toy is lost and the velveteen rabbit becomes the boy’s favourite companion. And his journey to become real begins.
“By the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off and you have become very shabby.”
Based on the timeless book by Margery Williams first published in 1923. In a 2007 online poll, the National Education Association in the US named the book one of its “Teachers’ Top 100 Books for Children.”
